yesWhat do you write on a saturday night when you have already been up for 16 hours, working all day on a business that you hope will legitimately help people, deciding not to go out to the bars, and trying to scrape by because you recently quit you job to pursue your dream?

I want to share with you guys (and girls), exactly what I have been doing since I quit Chase.

Wake-up:

Starbucks helps me out a lot with this…
I drink a venti coffee (no cream or sugar or anything) and begin checking my emails and recent comments etc.

Converse with Nate and Matt about what the objectives are for the day and hold a “round-table” discussion about what new discoveries and strategies we’ve thought of.

Set out accomplishing the objectives

Lunch:

Cook lunch and debrief w/ Matt and Nate about what we have accomplished/learned and what we are going to focus on for the rest of the day.

Pool Break:

We go to the pool almost everyday and talk about business, blogging, objectives etc.

Dinner:

I usually fix myself dinner too (or Matt fixes it), that way I can eat healthy and also to save money. When I was budgeting before I quit my job I discovered I was spending a huge amount of my income on food. Preparing my own would slash the number in half or more!

Have a Meeting with Nate and Matt about what we’ve accomplished today and what we are going to finish up the night doing. We usually eat around 9ish and then stay up until like 2-4 am. We keep a ridiculous schedule I know but we are willing to do whatever it takes to accomplish our goals!

I can’t say enough about the benefits of working with people who have the same goals as you. Matt, Nate, and I have known each other for many years and have just recently combined our powers!

Our talents are sufficiently diversified as well. We acknowledge the fact that each of us needs to bring something slightly different to the table. Each member of the team adds more value.

Open communication is also one of the most important elements to making a team work. The fact that we have known each other for so long helps a lot in this department!

What do you guys (and girls) do during the day? How are you working towards your goals? What could you be doing better at? What are you awesome at?

Let me know!

  1. Thats great Josh, a full on schedule but will pay off. I go out WAY too much at the moment, but while you’re young right? Everyone I work with is based overseas and this sometimes causes problems, but generally it is possible to work like that.

Wished that I could work in person with my team, maybe one day!

  2. LATTE FACTOR, I hate that term, but it works. You need to hold off on the Starbucks and you will be saving that much more money!

My day consists of my “9 to 5″ (usually 7 to 4), come home, eat dinner, play with kids, do things around the house, then around 9, I start working on my sites and go to bed around 11. Not much time for my web projects, but with two kids, and the fact that we are getting our house ready to sell and moving to another city, I just don’t have the time.

  3. It sounds like you are living your dream. I’m impressed that you had the courage to step out and pursue your passion.

Your “My Businesses” synopsis states that you have “one main business and four start-ups in the works.” What exactly are your businesses and how are they going?

  4. Thanks for the comment Colin. It’s still awesome that you have a team that you enjoy working with, in person or not!

  5. Thanks for the comment Stephanie! Right now, my team and I are all focussing on just a couple of business ventures: blogging and our new venture which you will here a lot about in the following months, Everything else has taken a back seat to these two items. Thanks for the visit.

  6. Sounds like you do have quite a tight schedule. I know how that feels, however maybe not to the extent you do. I am not married and I don not have any children. The most important thing is that you enjoy your life and are doing exactly what you want!

  7. Because I’m a Uni student everyday’s schedule is very different to the next. So I think of my workload in a week rather then a day.

Its been very hectic lately, I only have about 13hrs of contact time at Uni but recently more work has come my way in the form of:

-new work, so there goes the weekends
    -my second blog is up
-I’m preparing a series of guest writing articles to promote the blogs
-I have decided to spend about 6hrs a week with my Chinese friends, so we can practice speaking

This has been a major change to the previous semester, I am exhausted but very pleased at the same time.

You blokes have a crazy timetable, no wonder Nate fell asleep at his keyboard the other day.

  8. Hard work can be very rewarding and staying busy sure makes the time fly! Yeah Nate has fallen asleep at the computer several times! lol. He is however reaping the rewards of his work. Thanks for the comment!

  9. I hope I can enjoy my day like you too.. =)

  10. Good for you Josh! Feel really happy for you and get energised after reading this post. And, you know what? I just realised that we are somehow on a similar turf. I’ve also quitted my corporate job and on the way of creating my own business with two best friends. And, we also have our meeting last Sat… Good luck to you friend! It feels so good to do what you love to do and make your dreams come true!

  11. Looks like you have two good partners working together.. All the best!

  12. Why do you put (girls) in parentheses?

It is great you and your team have a loosely formatted schedule and the freedom to chase your goals.

During the day I write posts, check stats, read email and reply to comments. I still work for da man so I make sure I get that obligatory work out of the way in the first two hours I am there, then the rest of the day I’m in the office running my business.

I am working on better content development, I am not a prolific writer so that is my main area of needs improvement.

  13. I don’t really know why i put girls in parenthesis. I guess it was to make sure my posts weren’t gender specific. I also feel that my writing needs improvement. Thanks for the comment!

  14. Thank you very much for the comment! I love to hear from people who are in a similar situation to mine! I have been reading your blog a lot lately and enjoy every minute of it!

  15. Thanks Charles!
