My Businesses

My Blogging Objective

With this blog, I want to provide sound financial advice, help motivate others, and provide detailed accounts of my career, entrepreneurship, personal advancement.

My Work/Business Experience, Thus Far

My professional experience so far is mostly comprised of sales. It has been my objective for some time to fully realize my backup plan of being a financial advisor. Finance piques my interest, and in order to be a financial advisor I need 3+ years of sales experience. At the moment, I am working at JP Morgan Chase as a licensed (series 6, 63, and AZ life insurance) personal banker. The reason I call this my “backup plan,” is because I hope to develope my businesses to realize greater income and be my own boss.

My business partners, Nate Whitehill and Matthew Blancarte, and I, have one main business and four start-ups in the works. Our concentration lately has been assessing our individual strengths, then assigning tasks based on those. We plan on having each our businesses benefit from the others, therefore making them easier to manage effectively and to keep costs relatively low. I will include in later posts some of the details of each business.

Future Plans and Objectives

Personally, my greatest short term objective is to graduate from ASU in December of ‘07. I will take my GMAT exam shortly after, just in case I feel the need or want to attend graduate school (get my MBA). GMAT scores are usually good in most cases for up to 5 years however, some shools will only accept scores up to 3 years old. Taking the test this soon after graduating will be my best bet on getting a great score and should give me ample time to make up my mind whether getting an MBA would be advantageous or not.

Second, I would also like to be a financial advisor no later than March 2008. This is dependent on my success and progress as a banker. I will need to achieve high levels of sales and excell in investment production.

On the business side, we plan on hiring on part-time employee by this year’s end, and in 2008, we plan to purchase office space and hire on a couple of other employees including a manager.

Update 8/20/07

I recently quit my job at Chase to pursue my own business. Along with my business partners Nate and Matt, I hope our new business is a complete success and we achieve our goal of helping others. Be on the look out for the launch some time in January of 2008!
