Learning Experience
Being that this will be my very first month blogging, I want to set reasonable goals that I can achieve. Part of the purpose of setting goals for the first month is not only to help make my blog progress significantly, but also to learn. I would like my goals for June to focus on concepts that will allow me to learn the most about blogging and what readers want to hear the most about.
First Month Jitters
I would also like to point out that in this short while, I have had a couple of difficulties. Writing hundreds of college papers, containing 90% “fluff,” has made writing concise, interesting articles somewhat of an adjustment. In school, the goal is to write about a subject for a certain length. Blogging, on the other hand, requires writing in a style that is easy to read and/or scan while still getting the main points of the post across – two very different styles of writing.
Another difficulty for a first time blogger is being able to put into words the thoughts and ideas I have about a given subject. While this is a skill set I know will improve, in the meantime it can hinder the number of readers I maintain.
June Goals…
-
1. Learn to blog!
2. Improve my writing.
3. Read more blogs.
4. Write 20+ posts.
5. Meet other bloggers.
Conclusion
Normally, I would recommend making goals as specific as possible. In this case it is more important to just to post regularly, and learn about blogging in general. I do have one advantage that some of you may not have. My roommate/business partner/best friend, is Nate Whitehill. He is giving me tons of advice along with giving me a large portion of my traffic as well. Thanks Nate!
