Dreaming is easy. It's the doing that's hard. We need to accept that failure is a great teacher and not to fear it. By doing nothing you are guaranteed to fail.

One of the reasons I think why people stop dreaming and reaching for it is because of the anomalies and adversaries hounding society.

For instance, an average middle class person who dreamt of being rich (high class) saw in his society about how high class get rich quickly smuggling around the city.

Another is they rely too much on other people. And when this "other people" is no longer able to provide or had stop dreaming, they received the chain effect of also not being able to receive and also would die with this "other people" The result they die together with someone dying.

With this, they probably loose hope. Just sharing my cents though.

Hi Josh, this is my first visit to your blog and so far i like what i see. Regarding this specific topic, i believe that it is the moment when the individual defines him/herself as the emotion they are feeling that they become paralyzed and unable to pursue their dreams. I believe that all of us experience those specific emotions that drain our energy and ambition. And, many of us believe at that moment that this feeling is unique to us and although we have heard others express a 'similar emotions', ours still stands to be different and unique. This mentality then leads to self pity and sorrow.

However, we can look to change this thought process by accepting that as human beings we are destined to experience, and none that we experience is unique to us. This does not mean that we are not unique, but just that all that goes on in our lives has been and will be experienced by others. It is just how we choose to perceive it that makes us unique. I actually came to this after reading "Power vs. Force" by David Hawkings.

Well I'm actually subscribing to your RSS and i hope to find more interesting topics in the area of personal development and Business. I am in the midst of launching my own blog, and i too will be looking to discuss topics in this realm. My blog will be available at www.TheGapFactor.com.

Keep up the good posts!

People stop dreaming because:

1) They do not want to put the time and effort into their venture
2) They let other people dictate their life.
3) They are satisfied with their current status.

I am definitely an entrepreneur. There will always be people that say you can't do it but its my job to show these HATERS otherwise.

Sounds like my situation. I get home from work around 5 and then I go to work on my own stuff.

All should read - Spike's Guide to Sucess:Stupid, Ugly, Unlucky, and RICH by Richard St. John. You don't have to buy it, just check it out of your public library.
The key to the book is that there are 8 factors that lead to success: Passion, Work, Focus, Push, Ideas, Improve, Serve, and Persist.

My girlfriend and I were just talking about this through email less than 5 minutes ago. I wrote that I couldn't wait until I got home from work to work on my own stuff and she basically said that I was crazy and that all I ever do is work.

I explained that my goal is to be self-employed in 2 years through my ventures on the web, and I'm not going to get there unless I put my nose to the grindstone and pound out some kick-ass content for users to enjoy. I'd rather work super-hard and obtain the goal in a little over a year than look back 2 years from now and recognize that I didn't put in enough effort.

Taking the first step is a scary feeling, I know, I just did it again (http://www.truebluetitan.com/business-development/the-entrepreneur-journey-begins) and had put it off for about 2 or 3 weeks because I was afraid to face the responsibility. However, now I feel great, and am incredibly motivated because I now have something that I'm working on.

If you haven't done it yet, then what's holding you back? What's the worst you can do? Fail? Wonderful! That's the best way to learn. Good luck!

You're right. Some people just drift through life never doing much of anything and always looking at the other guy (or girl) who is "making it" saying how they get all the breaks. A lot of people sit and feel sorry for themselves rather than actually getting out and doing something productive. Majority of the time, the people "making it" put in countless hours to do so and didn't have their success just handed to them.

Personally I love to be told I can't do something. It motivates me to prove the them wrong.

I find myself teetering between the lack of self confidence and determination to pursue my dreams.

I think during the "lack" times, I find myself thinking how most people just live average lives and that's just the way it goes. Why shouldn't I be just average?

Then boredom snaps me back to my own reality!
